Watermelon Am I!? — Auntie Carrie Mail: July ’25

This month, I skipped the video montage for Auntie Carrie Mail. Not because I didn’t want to share the process—but because this one felt like it wanted to be told a little more slowly.

With words. With heart.

The theme? Watermelon Am I!? A pun, yes. But also a playful prompt.

Because what are you made of?

This month’s ACM was all about reminding my niblings they’re made of goodness—
Sweetness. Silliness. Softness. Strength.

And by the looks of it on social media, perhaps some of them are almost 98% actual watermelon this summer (lookin’ at you, Kolbie Lynn! 😉)

Each envelope included a bright little card inviting them to reflect on who they are and how wonderful they’re becoming. Along with it came a slice of watermelon (paper, not perishable 😄), and a bunch of hand-cut watermelon “seeds,” each one carrying a truth statement like:

— I am brave
— I am kind
— I am funny
— I am creative
— I am enough

As for the process: the seeds took a good chunk of time—hand cut, then rolled through a sticker press one by one. Every slice got a personalized message on the back, written in watermelon-scented marker (because why not delight as many senses as you can?). The envelopes were adorned with watermelon-scented stickers, too. And tucked inside each one was a different positivity sticker, chosen just for the recipient.

Even the names on the front of the envelopes got in on the theme—hand-lettered in two-tone greens with a pop of white to look like watermelon rind. That detail makes me smile every time I think about it. The extra touches really do make a thing so special!

It took hours. But honestly? I loved every minute of it.

Sometimes I know what my niblings are going through. Other times, I don’t. Some of them I’ve never even met. But no matter what, I believe in the power of a little love showing up when you least expect it. A reminder that someone sees you. That you are made of good things — and that you get to decide what those wonderful things are.

Watermelon am I?
Auntie Carrie, glitterly changing the world one scented marker at a time.

Watermelon are you?
Hopefully feeling seen, loved, and just a little more wonderful.
